A good point I read in this lesson is many books become outdated over time, like medical books when new treatments or better medicines are discovered. What was once considered the best method can change. But God’s Word is different. The Bible never becomes outdated because its truth is eternal and continues to apply to every generation and every situation.

I gained another helpful tool for understanding the Bible by outlining, marking, and charting passages while I study. These methods helped me slow down and notice important themes, key words, and connections in the text. Doing this made the meaning clearer to me and helped me understand the message of the passage better.

I have a new understanding that the Bible’s chronological history shows how God’s plan unfolds over time, starting with creation, moving through Israel’s history, and leading to the life of Jesus and the early church. Understanding the timeline helps me see how different events and books connect and reveal God’s purpose throughout history.

This lesson showed me how truly important it is to read a verse in its full context. We can’t just grab one sentence because that can twist its meaning. Like when people say the Bible says “there is no God,” but Psalm 14:1 actually says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” Context can change everything.

In this lesson something that was reinforced unto me is to use all the tools we have when trying to find a verse. Sometimes I only recall a few words, but a concordance or even technology can help me find it. Many times I even stumble upon another amazing verse when looking in my Bible or searching online.

One thing I really liked in the lesson was the comparison between the physical and the spiritual. Just like in jobs, hobbies, and other aspects of life we start as beginners and grow with time and experience. “As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby” (I Peter 2:2).

Something I found pretty neat in Lesson 3 that the Auca Indians did not have words for scripture, writings, or book. They had a custom of carving identification marks on their property to show ownership. When the Bible was translated for them, they called it “God’s carving,” meaning it belonged to God and was marked as His.

One thing I really took from this lesson is the importance of praying for knowledge and understanding when I read God’s Word. I don’t just want to read it, I want to truly understand it and live it. “For Ezra had set his heart to study the Law of the Lord…” (Ezra 7:10).

I like how you broke down the different types of parallelism and poetry. It really helps make sense of how intentional the writing is. The poetry books definitely make you slow down and think deeper. They challenge your mind but also speak straight to the heart.

I really liked how you pointed out the power of intercessory prayer, especially in small groups. There’s something different when believers pray together in unity. I also agree about staying in prayer even when we don’t feel like it.

What really impacted me is that God used around 40 different men over 1,500 years to write the Bible, and yet it all connects perfectly. Different backgrounds, different times, but one consistent message. That kind of unity isn’t random it shows one true Author behind it all: God. That’s powerful and honestly beautiful to me.
