I love the story of the prodigal son. It shows us that no matter how badly we mess up, if we repent and change our ways, our father will be there waiting for us and he will be happy for our return. We should not be living in our sorrow, but find a way to get back to God as quickly as possible. Our actions do matter!

When looking back at much of my life, I notice a pattern – my actions based on impulsiveness. In retrospect, I should be praying and seeking God’s wisdom in those circumstances. I used to often think that life would be best if I just kept my mouth shut, but in reality, that mean, slow down, relax, pray on it, seek God’s Will BEFORE I respond.

Wow, this really connected with me. I like the example of Thomas Edison conducting over 1,000 experiments which failed before he got the light bulb to work. That really sums up an average sinners life when you think about it. We keep trying, sometimes in the wrong direction, but ultimately, the goal is to find the light.

Great post! I agree with you that these lessons are teaching me things I have not known before. I’m trying to get used to posting after each lesson also.

I love the connections of the Old Testament and how it points to Jesus.

I am reviewing the Knowing God’s Voice section. I have always been fascinated by a preacher who once asked me, “if God was calling you on the phone and you didn’t have caller ID, would you know his voice?” This always stuck with me. In my readings, I learned in Romans 12:1-2 that we must first surrender ourselves before we can even perceive God’s will.
