Amen! Great reflection. I love the idea of when NOT to pray. One of the most common ways we express our dissatisfaction in God’s answer to our prayers is to keep praying about the same thing even when He has clearly given a response. It helps to know when to join God at work.

Thank you, Pieter! I totally agree that we should go back and study to be clear in our hearts before preaching about anything we do not totally understand. We’re not called to preach our opinions, but the living and life-giving word of God. This cannot be done casually.

Thank you for sharing, Cody!
I actually read Ask, Seek, Knock as one call to a life of consistency in prayer. Jesus also taught on this in another place in Luke 18 when He told a parable to the end that men ought always to pray and not to faint. So rather than see it as levels/intensities of prayer, I see it as one way to emphasize the need…

Very well articulated, Susan! And you’re not strange, I think about same silly things as well.

The question that comes to mind as I read your reflection is this: which of these personalities reflect who I am? Sometimes we read about Biblical characters and forget that we might simply be a modern reflection of what they represented. I am reminded to be watchful, lest I am disqualified of the price after having preached to many.
