Sword Sharpening

About Course
The Bible is often called the “sword of the Spirit,” a vital tool in the life of every believer. Yet for many, the Scriptures can feel overwhelming or difficult to fully grasp. Sword Sharpening is designed to help you not only grow in your love for the Word of God but also equip you with practical tools and a clear framework for understanding the grand story the Bible tells.
This course begins by exploring the importance of Scripture — why it matters, how it shapes us, and how it invites us into the ongoing story of God’s Kingdom. We will offer practical ideas and suggestions on how to read through the Bible, from daily habits to study techniques that make engaging with the text accessible and meaningful. Whether you are just beginning your journey or looking to deepen your study, Sword Sharpening will help you approach the Scriptures with greater confidence and purpose.
To further sharpen your understanding, we will break down the entire Bible into eight major sections that together reveal the full arc of God’s redemptive plan:
Kingdom Revealed – Creation and the cosmic temple (Genesis 1–2)
Kingdom Rebellion – Humanity’s fall and the spread of sin (Genesis 3–11)
Kingdom Covenant – God’s promises through Abraham and the patriarchs (Genesis 12–50)
Kingdom Foreshadowed – Israel’s story and the longing for restoration (Exodus through Kings)
Kingdom Coming – Prophets and the hope of redemption (Chronicles through Malachi)
Kingdom Incarnate – Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection (The Gospels)
Kingdom Tension – The church living in the “now and not yet” (Acts through Jude)
Kingdom Consummated – The ultimate renewal of creation (Revelation)
Each section builds upon the last, offering a cohesive, accessible way to understand Scripture not as disconnected stories, but as one unified, life-giving narrative.
