What is the Jesus Moment Bible Institute and Seminary (JMBIS)?

Our Online Bible Institute was founded as the Jesus Moment Bible Institute and Seminary (JMBIS) in January 2014. Our mission is to offer college-level Bible, theology, and ministry courses that help equip believers for life and ministry. We offer these courses freely to anyone who desires a deeper knowledge of Scripture and the Kingdom of God.

Is the Jesus Moment Bible Institute and Seminary accredited?

No. Jesus Moment Bible Institute and Seminary (JMBIS) is not accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

JMBIS operates under the religious institution exemption provided by Section 1005.06(1)(f), Florida Statutes. Each year, JMBIS submits the required sworn affidavit to the Florida Commission for Independent Education, which has accepted our annual verification as meeting the requirements of state law for qualifying religious institutions.

Our programs are designed for biblical education, ministry preparation, discipleship, and leadership development. While our certificates, diplomas, and degrees may be valuable for ministry and personal enrichment, they may not be accepted for secular employment, state licensure, transfer credit, or admission into other academic institutions.

Will my JMBIS credits transfer to other schools?

All credit transfers are at the discretion of the receiving institution. We encourage students to contact any school they may wish to transfer to before enrolling in JMBIS courses.

Is JMBIS a degree mill?

No. JMBIS is not a degree mill. All courses are offered free of charge, but students must successfully complete coursework, assignments, and program requirements in order to earn certificates, diplomas, or degrees.

Is JMBIS affiliated with a denomination?

While our sponsoring church is a member of the Association of Vineyard Churches, JMBIS serves as a non-denominational Bible Institute and Seminary and is not governed by the larger Vineyard movement.

Do I need to be a Christian to take courses?

No. Our courses are open to everyone. We simply ask that all students, faculty, and staff treat one another with respect as we seek truth together.

How long will it take to complete my degree?

Students beginning with no transfer credits should expect approximately two years for an Associate degree and four years for a Bachelor’s degree.

If you already have an Associate degree or have accumulated credits at other institutions that may apply to your JMBIS studies, your completion time may be shorter.

Since our courses are self-paced, students may move more quickly if they are able. Most courses are designed to be completed in twelve weeks. If a course has more than twelve lessons, divide the total number of lessons by twelve to determine how many lessons should be completed each week.

Students may take more than one course at a time. While it may be possible to complete up to twenty courses in one year, that would be a significant workload. We generally recommend no more than ten courses per year, which would allow a student to complete a Bachelor’s degree in approximately four years.

Is it really free?

Yes. All Online Bible Institute courses are offered free of charge. Our desire is to train and equip people for ministry in the Kingdom of God, so we make our courses freely available to students who want to grow in Scripture, ministry, and discipleship.

Do I need to purchase textbooks?

For most courses, the only textbook you will need is the Bible. A few courses may require an additional textbook, but these can usually be found online at little cost.

Do I need to send you transcripts?

We do not require transcripts for students to begin taking courses. However, before we can award a college-level degree, we will need a copy of your high school diploma or GED.

Even if you do not currently have a high school diploma or equivalent, you may begin taking courses now. At some point before qualifying for a college-level degree, you will need to complete high school or earn your GED.

If you are unable to complete a high school degree or equivalency, we can still award Bible Institute certificates instead of college degrees.
