Kingdom Foreshadowed Part 1
At Keys Vineyard Church, we are presenting a series called ‘Kingdom Foreshadowed,’ which we post here on Online Bible Institute.
This week, we are starting a new series called Kingdom Foreshadowed. In this series, we will tackle a bigger chunk of the Bible, starting with Exodus and going through 2 Kings. The four main points in this series will be the 10 plagues, 10 words, the Tabernacle, and the Temple. This week, we are going to introduce Moses.
Exodus 3:1–3 (NIV)
1 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
Moses was busy tending the flock. He could have just stayed there tending the sheep, but he decided to take time to go and press in to find out what was going on because the burning bush was challenging his present view of reality.
We can get so consumed in the busyness of our lives, that we miss opportunities to encounter God. We need to be willing to break out of our busy routines to make time to encounter God.
Exodus 3:4–6 (NIV)
4 When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” 5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
Moses was fearful as he encountered God, but now, because of Jesus, we no longer need to be afraid.
Meeting with God is made possible through what Jesus had done by His sacrificial death on the cross and His triumphant resurrection. Jesus bridges the gap between humanity and God, providing a way for us to have a personal relationship with Him.
John 14:6 (NIV)
6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
This verse establishes that Jesus is the way to God, emphasizing the necessity of believing in Him.
Romans 5:8 (NIV)
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Through Jesus’ death, our sins are forgiven, removing the barrier that separates us from God.
1 Corinthians 15:20 (NIV)
20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
The resurrection of Jesus assures believers of eternal life and a restored relationship with God.
Through faith in Jesus, we find the way to meet with God and experience His love, grace, and presence in our lives.
This weekend at Keys Vineyard Church we will talk about all this and more, so be sure to join us in person or online.
