The Church Leadership Certificate from Online Bible Institute is designed for believers who sense a calling to lead, nurture, shepherd, and serve within the Christian community. Effective church leadership requires more than organizational ability. It begins with a strong biblical foundation and a life increasingly shaped by Christ.
This program combines biblical and theological study with practical preparation for the realities of church leadership. Students explore Christian doctrine, Scripture, pastoral ministry, leadership, communication, conflict resolution, administration, and other areas that contribute to healthy and faithful ministry.
The Church Leadership Certificate also emphasizes personal spiritual formation. Before leaders can faithfully guide others, they must continue growing in their own relationship with God, learning to lead from wisdom, humility, prayer, character, and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
Our goal is to help prepare spiritually mature leaders who can serve churches and ministries with biblical conviction, compassion, integrity, and a genuine desire to help others grow as followers of Jesus.
May Be Conferred as a Diploma in Theological Studies
Students completing this program may receive the credential as a Church Leadership Certificate or as a Diploma in Theological Studies, according to the applicable OBI program pathway.
Biblical Leadership
Develop a biblical foundation for leadership and learn to approach ministry decisions through the wisdom and truth of Scripture.
Shepherding People
Grow in your ability to care for, encourage, guide, disciple, and serve people through the opportunities and challenges of ministry.
Spiritual Maturity
Learn to lead from a growing relationship with Christ, emphasizing character, humility, wisdom, prayer, and faithful service.
What You Need to Complete
Certificate in Bible / Theology, Certificate in Christian Ministry, or Associate Degree
Successfully complete ten (10) required courses.
Online, self-paced study with required participation in the OBI learning community.

Complete Every Lesson
Work through all lessons and complete the requirements provided within each course.
Share Your Reflection
After completing each lesson or session, post a thoughtful reflection of at least 100 words in the Site-Wide Activity Feed.
Encourage Other Students
Respond to two recent course reflections posted by fellow students and participate in the shared learning community.

Courses successfully completed as part of the Church Leadership Certificate can also be applied toward the Bachelor of Arts in Ministry degree. This program can therefore become another important step in your continuing biblical, theological, and ministry education at OBI.
