Five Possibilities for Sermon Series

Sermon Series

Creating a sermon series after Easter offers an opportunity to explore themes of renewal, transformation, and growth in faith. For all our Online Bible Institute students who are currently pastoring churches, here are five possibilities for sermon series that could resonate with congregations in the post-Easter season:

“Living the Resurrection”: This series can delve into what it means to live out the reality of the resurrection in everyday life. Sermons can explore how the resurrection of Christ influences our approach to forgiveness, community, suffering, and hope. Each week could focus on a different aspect of daily living, such as work, relationships, and personal growth, and discuss how the resurrection empowers Christians to live with purpose and joy.

“The Acts of the Apostles: The Early Church in Action”: After Easter, a series on the Book of Acts can be particularly impactful, tracing the steps of the apostles as they navigate the early days of the church after Christ’s resurrection and ascension. This series can highlight themes of mission, community, persecution, and the work of the Holy Spirit, drawing parallels to the challenges and opportunities the modern church faces.

“Gifts of the Spirit”: Focusing on the spiritual gifts bestowed upon believers, this series can explore how these gifts can be identified, developed, and used within the church and the world. By examining the different spiritual gifts listed in the New Testament, such as teaching, prophecy, healing, service, and administration, the series can encourage individuals to discover and use their gifts for the common good and the expansion of God’s kingdom.

“Walking with Jesus: Lessons from the Gospels”: This series could take a closer look at the post-resurrection appearances of Jesus and His teachings during that time. The sermons could provide practical lessons on faith, doubt, obedience, and discipleship by examining these encounters. Each sermon could focus on a different appearance of Jesus and the lessons those who interacted with Him learned.

“Faith and Culture: Navigating Contemporary Issues with Biblical Wisdom”: This series could address how Christians can apply biblical principles to contemporary issues in a rapidly changing world. Topics might include social justice, environmental stewardship, technology, and mental health. This series would challenge the congregation to think critically about how their faith intersects with the world around them and how they can be agents of change in their communities.

These sermon series ideas aim to inspire, challenge, and deepen the faith of congregants, helping them to integrate the profound truths of Easter into their daily lives and communities.
